Summer Adventures #2

summer adventures:
#2

The days are hot and we only venture outdoors after 4pm when the sun's beams are less intense and death-ray-like. The children are blessed with skin that will not burn instantly upon contact with the sun like mine. But it's best to be safe. Occasionally we will get a break from the heat with a cool(ish) day here and there and we let our guard down, slinking into the daylight, sunscreen and hats on hand. This was just such a day. I had originally told the children we weren't going for a swim, just a walk along the beach. But Fox had other ideas, as he so often does, and decided to head into the water anyway. Clothes and all. Luckily I had the foresight to pack swimmers for such an eventuality. I didn't, however, pack towels or a change of clothes. But I gave myself a mental pat on the back just for thinking about the swimmers. Foresight hardly ever bothers with me anymore so I appreciated this one small victory. In the afternoon we explored rock pools and watched the waves crashing over the rocks. I tried (for the most part unsuccessfully) to capture Lamb's salt water curls being tossed about in the wind. There is so much beauty that I see in her, in both of them, that I know, I know I'll never be able to capture with a camera. But, for whatever reason, I'm always trying anyway.
